I've started the climb. That's Nuptse in the background. The slope looks deceptively shallow here (it was the "flattest" part of the climb). I'm now over 17,000' high. You can see from the deep blue sky that we had exceptional weather for the climb. Trekkers who arrived late in the day and the next day would see very little because clouds rolled in.
