This shot was taken above and beyond Namche. Click on the "Enlarge" button and if you look closely, you can see our tents at our camp ground. Look at the wooded hill at the upper left side. Just below it is a path (one of the paths I used to get to this point). The path is the last one on the left side of the picture. Just below where the wooded hill meets the beginning of the path is a cleared ledge. You can just make out our tents (tiny coloured dots). The buildings on the hill in the background at the top of this picture is the army base. On this day (Friday), Chris, Santosh and I trekked to Khumjung village (which is really the "capitol" of the Khumbu region) to present the headmaster of the Hillary School with 6 copies of Stacey's book for the school library. I had already been in touch with him by e-mail and he was expecting me this day. The trek to Khumjung also provided us with further acclimatization. Khumjung is 12,434'. The rule is to trek high and sleep low when possible. Matt and Dawn trekked with Moti Bhattarai, the assistant sirdar, to another village for the day. It proved to be a serious problem for Dawn. More of that later.
