Just beyond the village of Chukhung (where I ate an ambrosial bowl of chicken soup with noodles) is this monument to Jersey Kakoska, a well-known Polish climber who died in the mountains. From here we trekked back to Dingboche - all down hill but the footing is tricky. One slip, a twisted ankle, a wrenched knee, would spell the end of the trek. We reached Dingboche shortly after noon and I paid for a hot shower in one of the lodges. Primitive, but wet. Tomorrow, we head off to Duglha (15,150). Getting close to Everest.
