Functions
  • Circulates the Spleen and Stomach Qi and strengthens the Spleen.
  • Dries Wetness and transforms Phlegm, especially in conditions of copious sputum.
  • Lowers rebellious Stomach Qi and stops vomiting.
  • Can be used together with hard-to-digest herbs in order to prevent Stagnation.
  • Primary herb of choice when Qi Stagnation, Wetness and Spleen Qi Deficiency are all present.
  • Cautions
  • Contraindicated in dry cough from Deficiency of Yin.
  • Use cautiously in conditions of coughing up of blood, Hot Phlegm, or Dry Excess Heat.
